Relationships, Health and Wellbeing Education
As part of your child’s educational experience at Cosby Primary School, we aim to promote their personal wellbeing, development and safety through a comprehensive programme of Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education.
Our PSHE curriculum gives children the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills they need to lead healthy, safe, happy and fulfilling lives, both now and in the future. It supports children to develop positive relationships, understand and respect themselves and others, recognise and manage their emotions, make informed and responsible choices, and know how to seek help and support when they need it.
Relationships Education and Health Education
From 1 September 2026, schools in England will follow revised Department for Education statutory guidance for Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education.
At primary school, Relationships Education and Health Education are statutory. Our curriculum is age-appropriate and carefully planned to support children’s physical, emotional and social development. It includes learning about friendships and family relationships, respect and kindness, personal space and boundaries, privacy, staying safe, emotional wellbeing, mental health and how to seek help from trusted adults.
The revised statutory guidance places a strong emphasis on helping children understand healthy and respectful relationships, personal boundaries, privacy and safety, including in online environments.

We recognise the important role that parents and carers play in supporting their children’s understanding of relationships, health and wellbeing. We therefore aim to communicate clearly with families about what is taught and when, and to provide opportunities for parents and carers to find out more about our curriculum.
